Frequently Asked Questions

Who needs a Passenger (P) endorsement?+
Any CDL driver operating a vehicle designed to transport 16 or more passengers — including the driver — must hold a valid Passenger endorsement. This includes city buses, charter buses, school buses, airport shuttles, and paratransit vehicles that meet the threshold. If you are adding this endorsement for the first time after February 7, 2022, ELDT theory training is required.
How long does Passenger ELDT take to complete?+
Most drivers complete this course in under 2 hours. With 20 focused modules it is fully self-paced — pause and resume at any time from any device. There is no time limit.
Is this course accepted in my state?+
Yes. DLA Academy is listed on the FMCSA Training Provider Registry and our Passenger ELDT course is accepted at DMVs in 49 states. Washington State is not served.
How quickly are my results submitted to FMCSA?+
Your completion is automatically submitted to the FMCSA Training Provider Registry within 24 hours. Once submitted, your state DMV can verify your training and you are cleared to schedule your endorsement knowledge test. Need it faster? The same-day submission option ($35) submits your results the same day you complete.
Do I need both a Passenger and School Bus endorsement to drive a school bus?+
In most states, yes. School bus drivers are typically required to hold both the School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements. DLA Academy offers both courses at $20 each, or get both plus Hazmat ELDT in the 3-Endorsement Bundle for $50 — saving $10 versus buying separately.
Does DLA Academy provide behind-the-wheel training?+
No — DLA Academy covers the ELDT theory portion only. Behind-the-wheel training must be completed with a local FMCSA-registered BTW provider if required by your state or employer. Contact your state DMV for BTW requirements specific to your situation.
What score do I need to pass?+
You need a minimum score of 80% on the final theory assessment to receive your completion certificate and have your results submitted to the FMCSA TPR.
Is this course really only $20?+
Yes — $20 flat, no subscriptions, no hidden fees. Same-day TPR submission is available for $35 if you need results the day you complete.
